Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda on Wednesday described as "hubris" the statement of Vice President Jejomar Binay that he will lead another "people power" revolution if he is cheated in the 2016 presidential elections.

“In a word, hubris. VP Binay should not consider the people’s decision in 2016 as being cheated if he does not win,” Lacierda said.

In a round-table interview with Manila Bulletin, Binay was quoted to have said that he will lead a "people power" if he gets defeated through cheating.

Binay is the standard bearer of opposition party United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

Aside from Binay, former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II and Senator Grace Poe have declared that they will run for president in 2016.

Poe led the Pulse Asia survey released on September 28 with 26 percent. Roxas, Binay and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte are "sharing second place" with 20 percent, 19 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, it would be a close presidential race between Poe, Binay and Mar in the Social Weather Stations survey issued last September 25.
