President Benigno Aquino III on Monday warned the Liberal Party’s (LP) political opponents in the coming 2016 presidential elections against going after vice-presidential candidate Leni Robredo and her three daughters.

The president made the statement during the LP’s proclamation of Robredo as the running mate of its standard bearer, former Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.

Leni, the widow of the late Secretary Jesse Robredo, has three daughters - Aika, Trisha and Jillian. The three were initially opposed to the idea of their mother running for higher office.

Aside from Leni, three senators are also vying for the vice presidency. They are Senators Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Alan Peter Cayetano, and Antonio Trillanes IV.

United Nationalist Alliance standard bearer Vice President Jejomar Binay has yet to announce who will be his running mate in the 2016 elections. —ALG, GMA News
