Public satisfaction with VP Binay down 9 points in Q3 – SWS
(Updated 9:24 a.m.) Vice President Jejomar Binay's public satisfaction rating dropped nine points to a “good” +33 (58% satisfied against 25% dissatisfied) in the third quarter, according to a poll taken by the Social Weather Stations.
Binay had a net satisfaction rating of “good” +42 in the second quarter, and a "good" +31 rating in the first quarter.
According to the the SWS ratings, a +70 was “excellent”; +50 to +69 was “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”; +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad,” and -70 and below was “execrable.”
The SWS' third quarter public satisfaction poll was taken from September 2 to 5 among 1,200 adults nationwide, with sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages. The poll results were posted on the BusinessWorld website.
Although SWS has not yet divulged the circumstances prevailing at the time the survey was taken, it can be noted that the survey was taken days after the Iglesia ni Cristo occupied EDSA in protest against the alleged meddling of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima in the church's internal affairs.
The latest SWS poll covered the Office of the Vice President and other top government offices. SWS previously released the satisfaction rating poll results of the Office of the President in September, with President Benigno Aquino III having a 64 percent satisfaction rating for the third quarter of 2015.
A September presidential preference poll, also taken by the SWS, showed a close race between Binay, Sen. Grace Poe, and former Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II.
Drilon, Belmonte, Sereno
Meanwhile, Senate President Franklin M. Drilon's satisfaction rating gained 13 points, upgrading him from the second quarter's “moderate” +29 to a “good” +42 in the third quarter.
House Speaker Feliciano R. Belmonte Jr. lost four points, leaving him still in a “neutral” +5 in the third quarter from the second quarter's +9.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno lost seven points, downgrading her to a “neutral” +4 from the second quarter's “moderate” +11.
Senate, House of Representatives, Supreme Court
As for the key government institutions, both the Senate and the House of Representatives improved their net satisfaction rating.
The Senate's rating was +44 ("good") in September, up by 11 points from the second quarter rating. This rating is "the highest in over two years since June 2013," the SWS said.
The House of Representatives, meanwhile, scored a "moderate" +26, six points up from the previous rating in the second quarter.
The Cabinet, meanwhile, increased its net satisfaction rating by four points, settling at a "moderate" +16.
The net satisfaction rating of the Supreme Court for the third quarter, on the other hand, went down by five points to a "moderate" +27. The SC's rating for the second quarter was a "good" +32. —DVM/KG/RSJ, GMA News
