The Commission on Elections on Sunday urged the public take advantage of the last six days of October to register as a voter, have their biometrics taken and validate their registration since there will no longer be any extension given for these activities.

Comelec chair Andres Bautista said the voter registration period will end as scheduled on Oct. 31.

“Wala nang extension, ha. Last week na lang ito,” he said.

There is still no announcement, however, if the registration period will be extended for areas affected by Typhoon Lando.

The poll body has extended its operations to seven days a week, and 12 hours in the final two weeks of voter registration as Filipinos who have yet to register and have their biometrics taken flock to local Comelec offices and select establishments such as gymnasiums, convention centers, schools, and town plazas.

It also formed 40 augmentation teams with each team composed of two personnel and a Voter Registration Machine (VRM) and are on call whenever a particular registration center requires support due to a deluge of applicants.

Since the registration period began on May 6, 2014, the Comelec has consistently reminded the public that voters do not have biometrics data will not be allowed to vote in the May 2016 elections.
