Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton, the accused in the murder of transgender woman Jeffrey "Jennifer" Laude is on his way to Olongapo City on Tuesday morning for the promulgation of the case, a report on Unang Balita by Jay Sabale said.

Pemberton left Camp Aguinaldo for the Olongapo City Hall of Justice around 7 a.m. He has been detained at the US facility inside the camp.

Meanwhile, security has been tight at the Olongapo City Hall of Justice, the report of GMA News' Rida Reyes said. More than 200 policemen from the Olongapo Philippine National Police and Special Action Force have been deployed to the area to provide security.

Laude's family and the prosecution team are hoping that Pemberton will be found guilty, the report said.

Julita Laude, Jennifer's mother, said only a guilty verdict will ease the pain in their hearts.

However, the prosecution said they will respect whatever decision the court will give.

Pemberton's counsel Atty. Benjamin Tolosa, on the other hand, is confident his client will be acquitted even if the case will be elevated to the Supreme Court.

Pemberton was pinpointed as the person who killed Laude in October 2014.

The promulgation will start at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Militant groups are expected to troop to the Olongapo City Hall of Justice to await the decision. —KG, GMA News
