One million faithful join Eucharistic Congress closing Mass

A million people listened to the homily during the closing Mass of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) on Sunday afternoon in Cebu, a report on Unang Balita on Monday said.

The Mass was officiated by Charles Maung Cardinal Bo, the special envoy of Pope Francis.

In the homily, Cardinal Bo focused on the family and youth, saying they had a special role to play in spreading the gospel, even to developed nations.

After the homily, Pope Francis gave a message of thanks via a video message.

Fifty thousand youths received Holy Communion during the Mass, the report said.

Among those who received Holy Communion were street children.

More than 10,000 delegates attended the IEC. —KG, GMA News
