SC justices explain votes on Grace Poe DQ case

On Tuesday, March 8, the Supreme Court voted 9-6 to declare the reversal of the disqualification of Sen. Grace Poe from the presidential elections in May over issues of citizenship and residency as required by the 1987 Constitution for those running for President.
The tribunal sitting en banc voted 9-6, granting Poe's petitions against the Commission on Elections (comelec) decisions cancelling her certificate of candidacy (COC) for president.
Those voted in favor of Poe's petition includes: Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, Associate Justice Benjamin Caguioa, Presbitero Velasco Jr., Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin, Jose Perez, Jose Mendoza, Marvic Leonen, and Francis Jardeleza.
Those who voted against were: Associate Justices Antonio Carpio, Teresita Leonardo-de Castro, Mariano del Castillo, Arturo Brion, Estela Perlas-Bernabe, and Bienvenido Reyes.
