Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano on Sunday mentioned how Davao City Mayor Rodrigo protected women and children in his city as he defended the PDP-Laban from those who called him out for his rape joke in their recent campaign sortie.
At the “Harapan ng Bise” vice presidential debate hosted by ABS-CBN, Cayetano said even though he's not the right person to explain his running-mate’s side, he knows Duterte is an advocate for women.
“He’s an advocate for women.
Cayetano said Duterte will not hesitate risk his life to save others.
With this, Cayetano reiterated how Duterte can bring change in the country.
Duterte has come under fire after a video recording of him making a rape joke during a campaign sortie went viral.
“"Nagalit ako kasi ni-rape? Oo. Isa rin 'yun. Pero napakaganda, dapat mayor muna ang nauna. Sayang," Duterte said, referring to a female Australian missionary who was killed and raped during a hostage crisis in 1989. — APG, GMA News
