Duterte wants PDEA disbanded, laglag-bala culprits 'retired' if he wins

Presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte dished out more details of his plan to suppress crime and government corruption in three to six months, a report on "24 Oras" said Friday.

During an ambush interview on Thursday, Duterte said he is going to disband the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for being a "breeding ground for corruption."

"PDEA? Disbanded. It's contaminated with corruption. Walang performance," he said.

Duterte also served notice to people running the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which was once dubbed the world's worst airport due to poor facilities, long queues and even rude staff.

"The Manila people sa airport, they might want to consider themselves out. They will be assigned to other places. The whole contingent there," he said.

He also hit out at airport personnel involved in the laglag-bala bala scam.

"If you're the one concerned, consider yourself retired. Lahat ng sabit sa laglag-bala, kindly consider yourselves retired from government service,"

Metro Manila policemen, some of whom got involved in criminal activities, should be "dealt with harshly," according to the mayor.

"They had the chance to correct what ails this country pero hinayaan talaga nila," he said. —Virgil Lopez/JST, GMA News
