PNoy talks of ‘vision’ after term, ‘political appeals’ with Iglesia ni Cristo’s Manalo
President Benigno Aquino III on Monday met with Iglesia ni Cristo Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo to share his "vision" after his term, and to make "usual appeals and political appeals" just a week before the May 9 presidential elections.
In an interview, Aquino said he also paid a visit to Manalo to thank the religious group for its support during his six-year administration.
"First, nagpapasalamat muna ako dahil talaga namang nadama natin ang suporta throughout the administration and even before I have been in office," Aquino said.
"Tapos parang sharing also the vision of sana what happens after I step down from office, usual appeals and political appeals," he added.
"As usual maganda ang pagkatanggap sa atin ni Ka Eduardo, I have no complaints but to say thanks for all the support," Aquino said of the meeting held at the Iglesia's Central Office in Quezon City.
Aquino has endorsed the candidacies of Liberal Party (LP) candidates Manuel "Mar" Roxas II and Leni Robredo, both of whom have already previously met with Iglesia leaders.
The Iglesia ni Cristo is believed to be a solid voting bloc during elections. In 2010, it backed the Aquino-Roxas tandem. — RSJ, GMA News
