Trillanes accuses Duterte children of having P300M in bank accounts

Three children of presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte received some P300 million in deposits from 2003 to 2015, documents released by vice presidential candidate Senator Antonio Trillanes IV revealed.

"Iba't ibang bank account sa iba't ibang banks," Trillanes said in a report by Maki Pulido in GMA's "24 Oras"

According to Sara Duterte Carpio's Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), she had a total net worth of more than P22 million as of 2012—P4.3 million of which was cash on hand, or bank deposits.

However, Trillanes' documents indicated that Sara had P111 million deposited in different banks, both in Davao City and in Metro Manila.

The documents showed Sara had 47 bank accounts—16 solo accounts, and the rest joint accounts with her husband Atty. Manases Carpio, her siblings Sebastian and Paolo, her mother Elizabeth Zimmerman, and her two children.

While Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte's 2015 SALN pegged his net worth at at P18 million (with P2.5 million cash on hand or bank deposits), documents released by Trillanes showed that he had more than P70 million in 36 bank accounts.

Out of all the accounts, 18 are solo and the rest are supposedly joint accounts.

Sebastian Duterte allegedly had the largest amount in bank deposits with P113 million, according to the Trillanes' documents.

He is said to have 47 accounts in different banks.

According to Trillanes, it is up to Duterte's children to answer his claims.

"Sila magpapaliwanag niyan pero hindi nila na-deklara 'yan. Remember si Paolo and Sara Duterte ay naging opisyal ng gobyerno. Hindi nila na-deklara ang tagong yaman na yan," he said.

"Base sa dokumento, isang araw, tatlo sila, nahulugan sila ng P20 million each on the same day. So mahirap ipaliwanag 'yun," he added.

Trillanes also noted that they are currently investigating the matter with two possible angles -- corruption, and illegal drugs manufacturing. "Binubuo pa naman 'yun," he said.

The children of Duterte were not immediately available for comment.

For his part, Duterte said he was not privy to his children's finances.

"They have these businesses. They're already adults," Duterte said.

"Hindi ako nakikialam.. Hindi kami naguusap ng ganon, ng pera," he added. —NB, GMA News
