Teodoro was initially asked to head the Department of National Defense (DND) under the Duterte regime.
He was among those who met Duterte on May 16, the first time Duterte accepted well-wishers after the May 9 elections.
"The president-elect said earlier that he wanted me to consider it. I answered that it is not a decision I can make alone. I have to consult my family. I have other commitments that I have made. I will have to come back to him with a decision," Teodoro said then.
A few days after, Duterte said that Teodoro had declined to join his Cabinet as defense secretary.
The post eventually was given to retired Major General Delfin Lorenzana who served as a military attaché to Washington. —NB, GMA News
