DOLE issues pay rules for work on Independence Day
Private sector workers who will report for work on Independence Day Sunday on June 12, will receive 200 percent or "double pay" of their salaries for the day, the Labor Department said Saturday.
Based on the pay rules issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), workers are entitled to get 200 percent of their regular salary for the first eight hours.
For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work), the employee shall be paid an additional 30 percent of hourly rate.
Pay rules:
- If the employee did not work, he or she shall be paid 100 percent of his or her salary for that day.
- If 12 June is the employee’s rest day and he or she still reported for work, he or she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her daily rate of 200 percent.
- If the employee worked more than eight hours on his or her rest day on 12 June, he or she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate on the day.
President Benigno S. Aquino III, in Proclamation No. 1105 dated August 20, 2015, declared Independence Day as a regular holiday.
