Hundreds of supporters and friends on Monday turned up at the funeral procession for Jeffrey "Jaguar" Diaz, the alleged top drug lord of Central Visayas, who was killed in a police operation in Las Piñas City on June 18.

A "24 Oras" report on Tuesday said the march caused heavy traffic as there were no police officers around.

Interviewed by GMA News' Chona Carreon, one of Diaz's neighbors described the slain drug lord as a good man.

"Minsan dahil sa paghihirap tutulungan niya, tulungan niyang makatayo. Bibili ng mga grocery," said Virgilio Zamora.

Police said this did not change the fact that Diaz got his money through illegal means.

"Pero hindi natin maipagkaila na 'yang pera na kinita niya or binigay niya o tinulong sa mga tao ay galing 'yan sa illegal na activities," said Superintendent Henry Biñas, chief of the Central Visayas Police Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division.

A parish priest, meanwhile, said that Jaguar was ready to stop selling drugs even before authorities were able to track him down.
