AFP chief Visaya gets fourth star
Newly installed Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Ricardo Visaya has received his fourth star, a week after taking over the leadership of the country's military.
The general was promoted to his new rank during a simple ceremony on Friday at the Ceremonial Area of the Department of National Defense, led by Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
Visaya was accorded full military honors befitting his new status as full general in front of the AFP General Headquarters Building.
The ceremony was witnessed by Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Glorioso Miranda, Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Salvador Mison III, and members of the enlisted corps and civilian employees of Camp Aguinaldo.
Visaya later visited the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Headquarters, where he was briefed on the command's current programs and issues.
He was also awarded the PAF Honorary Aviator's Gold Wings in front of PAF Commanding General Lt. Gen. Edgar Fallorina and senior officials.
Prior to being appointed as AFP chief by President Rodrigo Duterte, Visaya served as the chief of the AFP Southern Luzon Command. —Jessica Bartolome/KBK, GMA News
