PNoy's final satisfaction rating best among recent presidents – SWS
President Benigno Aquino III's net satisfaction rating at the close of his presidency during the second quarter of 2016 was the best among recent presidents, a Social Weather Stations survey found.
The SWS poll found that just as Aquino was about to leave office, he had a net satisfaction rating (the difference between the percentage of satisfied and unsatisfied) of +29, classified as “moderate”, with 57% satisfied and 28% dissatisfied.
The second quarter rating was two points better than the previous quarter's “moderate” +27, but both scores were a far cry from the “very good” +60 rating Aquino received when he first took office in 2010.
Aquino received his best net satisfaction rating, a “very good” + 67, in the third quarter of 2012. His worst rating, a “moderate” +11, came in first quarter of 2015, after the Mamasapano clash during which 68 people were killed when police commandos clashed with Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters gunmen in Maguindanao.
Nonetheless, Aquino's final satisfaction rating was better than other recent presidents': Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo left office with a “poor” -17; Joseph Estrada had a “neutral” +9; Fidel V. Ramos had a “moderate” +19; and Aquino's mother, Corazon Aquino, finished with a “neutral” +7.
According to the SWS, net satisfaction scores of at least +70 were “excellent”, +50 to +69 was “very good”, +30 to +49 was “good”, +10 to +29 was “moderate”, +9 to -9 was “neutral”, -10 to -29 was “poor”, -30 to -49 was “bad”, -50 to -69 was "very bad”, and -70 and below was “execrable”.
Geographically, Aquino gained 13 points in Metro Manila for a “moderate” +13 during his final quarter in office, gained 12 points in Mindanao for a “good” +42, lost 12 points for a still “good” +38 in the Visayas, and remained unchanged at a “moderate” +23 in Balance Luzon.
Among social classes, Aquino lost seven points but remained at a “moderate” +10 among classes ABC, improved by five points and a rating level to a “good” +30 with class D, lost eight points and a rating level to a “moderate” +28 with class E.
The net satisfaction poll was taken from June 24 to June 27 among 1,200 adult respondents nationwide. The poll had sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages, and ±6 points each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
The poll results were posted on the BusinessWorld website. — DVM, GMA News
