PNP honors 10 outstanding policewomen
The Philippine National Police on Wednesday recognized the 10 outstanding policewomen in the country.
In his speech, Director Ramon Apolinario, chief of the PNP Directorial Staff, said female police officers compose 15 percent of the 170,000-strong PNP.
"Once again, this has proven that in the world of law enforcement that is, of course, dominated by men, women are fast gaining a difference as they continue to achieve extraordinary feat in the service of country and people," Apolinario said.
"Sa mga panahong ito ang gawain ng lalaki ay kayang kaya nang gawin ng babae. Pero meron kayang gawin ang babae na hindi kaya ng lalaki at iyan ay ang manganak," he added.
He also thanked the policewomen for helping maintain the good image of the PNP with their good deeds.
Apolinario represented PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa who is now on his way to Thailand for official business.
The awardees were:

- Supt. Elizabeth Velasquez, chief, Police Community Relations/Public Information Officer of Highway Patrol Group,
- Insp. Anjanette Tirador, chief, Investigation Unit, Tagum City Police Station, Davao del Norte,
- Insp. Jenelyn Kiwingan, officer in charge, Calanasan Municipal Police Station, Apayao Provincial Police Office,
- Insp. Sheryl Bautista, assistant team leader Regional Anti Human Trafficking Task Force, assistance chief of intelligence operation branch Region 7,
- PO3 Aileen Catugas, chief of pre-charge investigator provincial investigation and detective management branch, Lingayen, Pangasinan, Region 1,
- PO3 Abigail Rayala, Women and Children's PD PNCP, Oas municipal police station, Albay Provincial Police Office, Region 5,
- PO3 Maricar Anastacio, PCR/WCPD, Guiguinto MPS, Bulacan, Region 3,
- PO2 Lalaine Castro, Family Juvenile GADD PNCP, RPCRD, Region 8, and
- PO1 Haidelyn Arevalo, PCR PNCO, Aroroy MPS, Masbate ppo, Region 5
