Former actress-model confirms sex trade inside NBP
A former model and actress has confessed to offering escort services inside the New Bilibid Prison, confirming allegations that the sex trade exists inside the prison.
A report by Marisol Abdurahman in 24 Oras on Thursday said that "Melody" was one of the women inmates refer to as "tilapia" or "bangus," terms for prostitutes purchased by "big time" inmates.
Melody said that convicted drug lord Vicente Sy was her former client.
"Ang tagal bago kami makapasok. Tawag kay Vicente...everytime papasok doon, sa gate pa lang papasundo na niya ko, at yung kasama ko. So walang humaharang sakin," she said.
She said she must have entered the prison around 15 to 20 times, before security was tightened.
Melody said she visited Sy for hours at a time, sometimes even staying overnight in his cell.
After her second visit, she had brought another woman with her, which earns them extra money.
"Usually, magdala lang...5,000 to 10,000," Melody said.
Former actress Sabrina M., who was recently arraigned for charges of drug pushing, said she was also aware of the sex trade inside Bilibid.
"May naririnig lang ako, may naririnig ako na pumapasok dun," she said.
Meanwhile, starlet Krista Miller admitted she also used to visit the prison, but not for sex activities.
Miller said that she was selling a condominium unit to convicted drug lord Ricardo Camata, whom she first met at the Sagala Festival in 2014.
She also visited him in a hospital in 2014.
Miller was recently arrested due to her involvement in illegal drugs.
High-profile inmates recently testified before a House inquiry that prostitutes were also being smuggled into the national penitentiary, along with illegal drugs and alcohol. —Jessica Bartolome/NB, GMA News
