Alleged Eastern Visayas drug lord Kerwin Espinosa on Friday admitted that he no longer had any communication with his late father, former Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa.

“Wala na, kanya kanya na,” the younger Espinosa said during the press conference held at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters at Camp Crame, Quezon City early Friday.

In fact, Espinosa admitted that he did not even receive his father’s call for him to surrender.

The former mayor on August 30 tearfully appealed to his son to surrender to authorities who want him arrested for alleged links to the illegal drug trade.

“Hindi nakarating sa kanya dahil nasa Malaysia na siya nun at wala na kayong contact noon hindi ba?” PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said interpreting Espinosa’s statements.

“Kasi ang father niya habang nasa White House noon every now and then naghanap talaga ng paraan na makontak siya,” dela Rosa told reporters.

He then explained to Espinosa how his father tried to reach him.

“'Yung sabi nung father mo na nakontak ka daw through your auntie na sinabihan ka na nag-surrender na 'yung father mo dito tapos pinapauwi ka,” dela Rosa told Espinosa.

But Espinosa denied having received any call. “Wala. ‘Yung sa Amerika? Wala sinabi sa akin,” he said.

Espinosa arrived in the Philippines on Friday after he was arrested in Abu Dhabi last month.

His father was killed in a supposed firefight inside the Baybay City Sub-Provincial Jail in Leyte on November 5.
