The Pangasinan PNP has transferred Ronnie Dayan, the former driver and bodyguard of Sen. Leila De Lima, to a new safe house after suspicious persons were spotted roaming the area.

Pangasinan Police chief Sr. Supt. Ronald Lee confirmed the transfer of Dayan from his original safe house to a new one for security purposes, Mav Gonzales reported on GMA News TV's Balitanghali Monday.

Lee said authorities were still uncertain when Dayan would be turned over to the Department of Justice's Witness Protection Program in Manila.

Dayan has started living a "normal" life at the first safe house when he was placed under protective custody of the Philippine National Police.

PNP chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa assured the safety of Dayan while the House probe on the proliferation of illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison continues.

Meanwhile, Dayan's legal wife, Norly, declined to issue a statement when visited by the police at their Urbiztondo home.

Norly said she was advised not to comment on the relationship between De Lima and Dayan. She did not name who advised her remain quiet on the matter. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/NB, GMA News
