Lieutenant General Eduardo Año, the 57th commanding general of the Philippine Army, is the new Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff.

A reliable Malacañang source confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte signed Año's appointing papers ahead of the change of command ceremony on Wednesday afternoon.

At least two military generals also told GMA News Online that Año is the incoming military chief.

Año will replace retiring AFP chief Gen. Ricardo Visaya.
