Duterte gets flower named after him at Singapore’s orchid garden

An orchid has been named after President Rodrigo Duterte during his state visit in Singapore.

Duterte, thus, joined the ranks of US President Barack Obama and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon as world leaders who have orchids named after them at Singapore's National Orchid Garden.

Dendrobium Rodrigo Roa Duterte??—a hybrid of Dendrobium Sonia Beauty and Dendrobium Urmila Nandey—was unveiled at the garden on Friday towards the end of Duterte's visit.

The orchid's sepals and petals are violet-red.

It produces upright flower sprays up to 15 blooms with each bloom of about six centimeters across.  —NB, GMA News
