Suspect in Geraldine Palma slay yields
A suspect in the grisly killing of seven-year-old Geraldine Palma, whose body was stuffed into a suitcase and dumped into Manila Bay last month, has surrendered to police. Radio dzBB reported Thursday morning that police expect the suspect, initially identified as Renato Bohol, 41, to shed more light on the killing of Geraldine. Sketchy reports indicated that Bohol, a resident of Isla Puting Bato in Manila, surrendered to the Manila Police District (MPD)'s Chief Inspector Nelson dela Cruz. Officials led by acting Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso, more popularly known as Isko Moreno; Senior Superintendent Danilo Abarzosa, acting MPD chief; and Maj. Gen. Ben Mohammad Dolorfino, Marine commandant and outgoing commander of the Armed Forces National Capital Region Command, were to present him within the day. Geraldine's body was found inside a suitcase dumped into Manila Bay last month. An autopsy showed she was also sexually abused and strangled. Police are still looking for the prime suspect in the killing, who eluded arrest after his relatives in Pampanga refused to cooperate with police authorities. Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detective Group in Region 8 went to Floridablanca town in Pampanga province over the weekend where Henry Redoblado and Maritess Ontog were allegedly hiding. Authorities believe Redoblado is the mastermind in the killing of Geraldine. Ontog is the household helper of the Palma family, with whom Geraldine was last seen. Last Saturday, Quezon City police arrested another suspect in the case, identified as Rosdam Mesias. Mesias denied involvement in the crime, merely saying that he saw Hemlet and another suspect, Ricardo Campas, hit Palma. - GMANews.TV
