Sandiganbayan allows Jinggoy to leave Camp Crame for medical tests
The Sandiganbayan on Monday allowed former senator Jinggoy Estrada to leave his detention cell inside Camp Crame to undergo medical tests at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City for the pain on his left knee.
The anti-graft court, during a hearing, granted Estrada’s motion to undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and X-ray of his left knee on Tuesday.
In his motion, the former senator said he is suffering from patellofemoral pain syndrome based on medical examinations by his doctor at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center.
Estrada’s camp said his doctor in Camp Crame has recommended that he undergoes the medical tests since he is still feeling pain on his left knee despite rest and medications.
The former senator is under detention for plunder charges connected to the pork barrel scam. He is accused of amassing P183.793-million worth of kickbacks for allocating his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel from 2004 to 2012 to the fake non-government organizations (NGOs) allegedly owned by businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, his co-accused. —KBK, GMA News
