Three more suspects in the car rental scam have been placed under the immigration lookout bulletin order by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II instructed Immigration officers on Monday to monitor the whereabouts of Ana Pamplona Borlon, Lea Constantino Rosales,  and Rafaela Anunciacion as these personalities are currently subject of the National Bureau of Investigation's probe into the scam.

Anunciacion is said to be the mastermind of the scam which has already victimized hundreds of car owners.

An immigration lookout bulletin was earlier issued against Tychicus Historillo Nambio, also a suspect in the car rental swindle who is currently detained at the Biñan Police headquarters for estafa cases.

“I enjoin all our immigration officers and everyone concerned to strictly discharge their duties. This rent tangay scam has victimized a lot of persons, let us bring those responsible to  our courts so that justice will be served,” Aguirre said. ?

The syndicate allegedly carried out the scheme by giving "fraudulent promises" of rental income only to find out later that their vehicles were either mortgaged or sold to different people without their knowledge and consent.

Police are now looking into the possible involvement of bank personnel in the scam even as they clarified that they have yet to see any collusion between the lending institutions and the syndicate. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
