Supporters of the Marcos family gathered at the tomb of late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City for a mass celebrating their belief in the late dictator, Mark Zambrano reported on Balitanghali on Saturday.

According to supporters, 500 Marcos loyalists attended the mass that prayed for the family's well-being and the state of the country before having a small feast.

The mass coincided with the 31st anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution, the peaceful uprising that ended the late dictator's two-decade regime that included a nine-year Martial Law period.

Cherry Cobarrubias, founder of the Marcos Loyalist for God, Country and People, earlier said they consider the EDSA Revolution "a pocket mutiny that grew into a localized revolt" and former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, who took Marcos' place after his ouster, a "usurper."

Police are now preparing for the arrival of the "Block Marcos Movement" that will march toward the LNMB to continue their protest at the burial of Marcos at the hero's cemetery and to commemorate the EDSA People Power Revolution.

Officers put three PNP mobiles on the road leading to the LNMB to block the anti-Marcos group and prevent a possible confrontation between them and Marcos loyalists still at the site.

Only pre-registered visitors are allowed to enter the hero's cemetery, while members of the media are denied entrance. — Rie Takumi/MDM, GMA News
