Rafael Dumlao submits written defense in Jee slay case
Supt. Rafael Dumlao, the alleged mastermind in the abduction and killing of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo, on Tuesday refuted before the Department of Justice (DOJ) the allegations against him.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Dumlao submitted his counter-affidavit to the DOJ investigating panel composed of Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Juan Pedro Navera and Olivia Torrevillas.
Gerardo Gregorio Santiago, the owner of funeral parlor in Caloocan City where Jee's remains were initially brought, also filed his counter-affidavit.
Other respondents, including National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officials Ricardo Diaz, Jose Yap and Roel Bolivar and NBI errand boy Jerry Omlang, are expected to submit their counter-affidavits on Friday.
Jee was abducted, along with his househelp, from his Angeles City home last October 18.
The businessman was later on strangled to death inside the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame despite the payment of P5 million ransom by his wife.
His remains were burned to ashes which were flushed down the toilet. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
