President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said two Cabinet ministers want Mighty Corporation owner Alex Wongchuking, whom he identified as his mistah, to pay more than its tax liability.

"Sabi ni Vit at Sonny, ten times daw. You know, I speak freely because the law itself allows compromise," he said during a press conference in Malacañang.

He was referring to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez.

Duterte reiterated that Dominguez as well as Internal Revenue Commissioner Caesar Dulay and Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon will have to concur on the final amount of the settlement.

"Ibigay sa ospital diretso. It must go directly to the hospital personnel, mas okay. Ano use ko sa kanya (kung) pakulong mo? Billionaire? He'll just--komportable buhay niya doon just like any billionaire na pumasok diyan," he added.

Like Duterte, Wongchuking, was also adopted by the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1967. So, the President considers the Mighty Corporation owner as his mistah.

The President on Thursday offered Wongchuking to pay double his tax liability. He added that the P3 billion would be given to hospitals in Basilan, Jolo, and Manila. — BAP, GMA News
