PHL warship BRP Ramon Alcaraz sails to Benham Rise

BRP Ramon Alcaraz, one of the Philippine Navy’s warship, has set sail to Benham Rise.

The ship was deployed on March 17 to patrol the 13-million hectare undersea region and biodiversity hotspot located east of Luzon following the reported presence of a Chinese vessel last year.

Photos by GMA News' Chino Gaston showed Alcaraz preparing for patrol on Saturday. The ship boasts of a Mark72 76mm Oto Melara cannon. The crew includes six female officers and seven enlisted personnel.

Benham Rise will now be part of BRP Ramon Alcaraz's regular patrol route. —Jessica Bartolome/ALG, GMA News
