Duterte pays tribute to slain soldier in Bohol clash vs. Abu Sayyaf

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday condoled with the family of the soldier who was killed when government troops pursued members of the Abu Sayyaf in Inabanga, Bohol on April 11.

Right after his arrival in Manila on early Monday morning following a three-nation weeklong trip in the Middle East, Duterte went to Barangay Mojon Tampoy in San Jose, Batangas to visit the wake of 23-year-old 2Lt. Estelito Saldua Jr.

Duterte conferred a Gold Cross Medal to the slain soldier.

“Kung may kailangan kayo, maski anong problema na hindi ninyo masolusyunan, tawagan ninyo lang ako,” he told  Saludua’s parents, Gina and Estelito, and siblings.

Duterte then gave financial assistance and a cellular phone with his contact information to the bereaved family.

Philippine Army Commander Lt. Gen. Glorioso Miranda, Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Gen. Eduardo Año, and Special Assistant to the President Sec. Christopher “Bong” Go accompanied Duterte during the visit.
