Co-workers claim Dexter Carlos at work during Bulacan massacre —police
Authorities on Friday said colleagues of security guard Dexter Carlos have claimed he was on duty when the San Jose del Monte, Bulacan massacre happened two weeks ago.
At a press conference in Pampanga, Chief Superintendent Fitz Macariola, chief of the San Jose del Monte police, said four of Carlos' co-workers have already executed affidavits to prove he was on graveyard shift at a Makati bank last June 27.
Carlos lost his wife Estrella, their three children, and his mother-in-law in the killings.
"Actually we just received four statements coming from colleagues of Dexter Carlos who is at that time of the incident, working with Dexter Carlos at BDO Makati," said Macariola.
"Meron po kaming apat na na statements and we will just wait sa copy ng CCTV... Hindi siya ordinaryo na security guard kundi siya ay nerve center officer na in charge sa communication of all branches of BDO nationwide," Macariola said.
Asked whether the affidavits stated that Carlos was not in their home when the killings happened, Macariola answered in the affirmative.
"The possibility na he is really there is very likely po dahil meron na nga po tayong apat na statements from his co-workers," Macariola added.
Police earlier decided to include Carlos in the investigation and even planned to let him undergo a lie detector test.
This move upset Carlos, but he still vowed to cooperate with the police just to prove his innocence and to seek justice for his loved ones.
Bulacan provincial police director Sr. Supt. Romeo Caramat III clarified that including Carlos in the probe was part of standard operating procedure.
"It is [SOP] that the person who discovered the crime should be investigated and asked," said the police official.
"Pero malayo sa katotohanan na itong si Dexter Carlos ay magiging suspect. We just want to put on record para ma-establish ang kinaroroonan niya when the crime was perpetrated," he added. — MDM, GMA News
