Rebellion raps filed against more than 50 people in Marawi


 

New rebellion cases have been filed against more than 50 people in Marawi City in connection with the siege of the pro-ISIS Maute Group in the city.

The  have filed new rebellion cases against more than 50 people in Marawi City.

According to a report by Maki Pulido on "24 Oras" on Friday, the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) filed the cases recently at the centralized prosecutor's office in Cagayan De Oro City based on testimonies of civilians who were able to escape the Maute Group.

"Kasi ang daming namatay... ang daming... so kailangan may mananagot kung sino 'yung mananagot don. So since nakakuha na tayo ng mga witnesses, Ma'am, kinuha na natin 'yung affidavit," said Chief Insp. Max Sumet-Ang

"Patay man o hindi, 'yung mga sinasabi nilang tao na involved, we have to file cases against them," he added.

The CIDG is also investigating alleged financiers of the ISIS-inspired terror group. According to a source, some local government officials are being probed, with investigators looking into money transfers to identify financiers. —Anna Felicia Bajo/JST, GMA News
