Duterte: Wala na nga akong allowance, dalawang pamilya pa naghahati

President Rodrigo Duterte drew laughter from the crowd at the Batasan Pambansa Complex during his second State of the Nation Address when he said his meager salary is still divided between his two families.

During his speech, Duterte said he does not want to go beyond his term because of the headache that comes with being the President.

"Ako, I do not intend to go beyond my term. As a matter of fact, mas gusto kong barilin ako sa likod. Masyado naman kayong bilib sa trabaho na ito. Akala ko bilib ako, pero... sakit ng ulo," he said.

He went on to say that he does not receive any allowance, just his salary.

"Wala akong allowance, wala akong tinatanggap na anything except my salary," he said.

"Tapos dalawang pamilya pa ang maghahati. 'Yun ang masama diyan," he added.

This drew laughter and cheer from the audience, which included lawmakers, past presidents, foreign diplomats and top government officials.

Duterte has two families ---- three children with his first wife Elizabeth Zimmerman, and one with his second common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña.

"Lahat naman tayo! I can count my... not even the two hands. One hand lang na exempted sa rule na yan. Dalawa, tatlo, apat, lima, kalokohan 'yan," he said. —ALG/KVD, GMA News
