The ex-spokesman of former President Benigno Aquino III on Thursday slammed President Rodrigo Duterte for cussing out his predecessor.

Edwin Lacierda, who served as presidential spokesman during Aquino's term, said Duterte calling his predecessor "gago" is a reflection of the President's boorish behavior.

"Cursing never elevates public discourse," Lacierda wrote on Twitter.

Duterte on Wednesday lambasted Aquino for his criticism of the current administration's drug war.

"Sige, pumasok ka sa droga PNoy, ‘pag hindi kita pinutulan ng ulo, buang ka. Anong walang nangyari? Gago ka," he said at the 113th founding anniversary of the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

Duterte also said that Aquino's uniformed officials during his term had drug links such as retired police director Vicente Loot.

"Mga generals mo, ‘yang aide mo, ‘yung aide ni [former Interior Secretary Mar] Roxas puro nasa droga, konektado. Number one diyan ‘yung bata ninyo si General Loot, isa pa ‘yang u--- na ‘yan," said Duterte.

Aquino had endorsed Roxas for the presidency, losing to Duterte in May 2015.

Lacierda also pointed out that Duterte never had a "memorable speech" because of his habitual off-script statements.

"You pride yourself in delivering impromptu speeches which PNoy has done on a number of events. No wonder none of your speeches are memorable," he said. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/JST/KVD, GMA News
