State-run PNA uses Dole logo for DOLE pay rules announcement

The Philippine News Agency used the logo of a pineapple company as the thumbnail of a Department of Labor and Employment article announcing the government's pay rules for the non-working holidays in 2018.

The department's acronym DOLE is also the name of the prominent pineapple products firm Dole.

The logo of the labor department can be seen on its web page.

The apparent gaffe came just days after the PNA reprinted an article from the Chinese news agency Xinhua that described as "ill-founded" a 2015 arbitration ruling that favored the Philippines' claims over the South China Sea.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has asked PNA for an explanation of the Xinhua article reprint.
