Customs chief Faeldon attends Senate probe week after heart attack
Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon on Tuesday appeared anew before the Senate Blue Ribbon committee investigation on the P6.4-billion shabu shipment smuggled from China.
Faeldon’s appearance comes a week after he was confined in a Taytay, Rizal hospital following a heart attack.
“Hindi naman ako nagpa-confine. Yung doctor ang nagsabi...Healthy naman ako,” Faeldon told reporters.
Asked if he was not advised against attending the hearing, Faeldon said: “Hindi naman stressful to tell the truth...Just answer them.”
“I did not ask, I did not accept a single centavo while I’m at the Bureau of Customs. I really want to find out who these people are, how they do their shenanigans in the bureau. Prosecute natin, malalaman naman natin yan,” he said.
On calls from some lawmakers for his resignation, Faeldon said he respects their opinion but - as he has said before he is "a soldier with a mission" but that the President can "always fire him." —ALG/KVD, GMA News
