US Ambassador Sung Kim on Tuesday called for justice to be served in the case of 17-year-old Kian Loyd Delos Santos, who was killed in an anti-drug operation in Caloocan City a week ago.
In a post on Twitter, Kim also expressed his sympathies to Delos Santos' family and friends.
"My condolences go out to the family and friends of Kian. Hope that the investigations lead to full accountability," went Kim's tweet.
Delos Santos was killed in an alleged drug operation in Caloocan City.
Police officers claimed that he tried to run and even shot at them with a .45 caliber pistol, forcing them to return fire.
Delos Santos suffered three gunshot wounds - all three of which Public Attorney's Office chief Persida Acosta described as fatal.
The teenager's death has generated outrage among Filipinos after a CCTV video showed him being dragged away by policemen instead of him running away as they earlier claimed.
The killing of the minor drew the ire of the public, some sectors of which were already critical of the President's anti drug campaign.
The three policemen that figured in the drug operation have since been placed under restrictive custody. —NB/KVD, GMA News
