Palace after Kian’s burial: Let’s allow law to take its due course
The investigation into the slay of 17-year-old Kian Loyd Delos Santos should now be left to the justice system, Malacañang said on Sunday.
Calls for justice and the end to all extrajudicial killings under the heightened campaign against illegal drugs of the present administration reverberated as Kian was buried at the La Loma Cemetery in Caloocan City on Saturday afternoon.
"Kian de los Santos has been laid to rest. A criminal complaint against the Caloocan policemen involved in the incident has already been filed," Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in a statement on Sunday.
"Investigation is now in the process. Let us allow the law to take its due course," he added.
Hundreds of people joined Kian's funeral procession, which passed by Caloocan City Police Community Precinct 7, where policemen who killed Delos Santos in an anti-drug operation on August 16 were assigned.
Kian is one of the dozens killed in a series of anti-narcotic operations in Metro Manila and Bulacan two weeks ago.
The teenager died after he was shot during an "Oplan Galugad" operation in Barangay 160.
While the policemen claimed that Kian shot it out with them as he was trying to escape, Saldy, the boy's father insisted that the police took him, saying that he obtained a CCTV footage that shows his son was brought by policemen to the place where he was killed.
Also, Saldy claimed his son was blindfolded by the police and was being forced to identify drug pushers in their area.
On the other hand, a witness has come out claiming that the teenager had begged for his life. —LBG, GMA News
