Duterte confers Lapu-Lapu award on Espenido, Marawi fallen heroes

Ozamiz City police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido and the 129 security personnel who were killed in action in Marawi City are the first recipients of President Rodrigo Duterte's Order of Lapu-Lapu.

Duterte conferred the awards at the Libingan ng mga Bayani during the National Heroes Day celebration on Monday.

For those who were killed in action in Marawi City, their posthumous awards were received by their next of kin.

Duterte created the Order of Lapu-Lapu to recognize the efforts of government personnel in pushing for the advocacy of the President. —KG/KVD, GMA News
