Palace: Speedy, truthful probe of Kian’s slay expected from DOJ, NBI
Malacañang expects the Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigation to act with dispatch in the case of the slain 17-year-old Kian Loyd Delos Santos, presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said on Tuesday.
Abella said it was leaving the matter of the investigation to the DOJ and the NBI after President Rodrigo Duterte met with Delos Santos' parents and committed a swift investigation pf Delos Santos' death.
Delos Santos was killed in a supposed drug operation in Caloocan City two weeks ago. His parents have denied that he was involved in any way with the drug trade as claimed by policemen.
Duterte said he himself saw a video of Delos Santos being dragged by policemen. He said what he saw prompted him to order the detention of the officers.
“We expect speedy and truthful investigations on the killing of Kian delos Santos as pledged by the President to his parents and the nation,” Abella said.
“Let the NBI and the DOJ do their job with impartiality, integrity and dispatch. Other agencies are welcome to undertake their own probes as mandated by the law,” he added.
While Abella was not able to provide more details on the meeting, he reiterated that Duterte vowed justice for Kian’s death.
“What is truly important is that they were able to talk, to meet, and they were able to—and they were assured, actually, by the President, that justice will be fully served,” Abella said. —NB, GMA News
