President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday hit out at Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog who had supposedly offered a P1 million bounty for the arrest of alleged drug lord Richard Prevendido.

Sabi niya, bigyan daw niya ng one million ‘yung taong makapagturo sa kanila ang mga drug people,” he first said with a straight face.

Magbobolohan tayo dito? Kaya my language become—becomes foul, ‘yung mga stili—mga istilo na ganoon,” he added.

Prevendido was killed in a police operation on September 1.

Mabilog has been named in Duterte's list of personalities allegedly involved in drugs since last year.

Duterte initially assigned controversial Ozamiz City police Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido to Iloilo City, but his reassignment did not push through.

Espenido is not qualified by law to become police chief of Iloilo City, a highly-urbanized city, because of his rank. But Duterte clarified that he never said Espenido should be chief of police there.

"Look, I did not say that you should be there as a chief of police. Alam ko wala pa siyang ranggo. Ako nagpipirma ako ng appointment pati promotion," he said.

When he was in Ozamiz, he was not really the — may police chief doon. —JST, GMA News
