Satanic rosaries burned in Cebu, weeded out from stores in Davao
Satanic rosaries and some lucky charms were burned in Cebu while sellers of religious items in Davao City weeded their merchandise of the rosaries said to have been consecrated to the devil.
According to Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras", this developed after the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines news website carried an article about the proliferation of satanic rosaries.
Instead of the word INRI, the cross in a satanic rosary has a sun on its top portion. At the back of the image of Jesus Christ are a snake and thorns.
"Ngayon na alam na namin ang tungkol sa simbolo ng satanic rosary, hindi na kasali yun sa ibebenta namin," said a vendor of religious items in Davao City.
Monsignor Perseus Cabunoc of the St. Augustine Cathedral said Catholics should be careful when accepting rosaries as gifts.
"Maari pa rin tayong magsagawa ng devotion gamit ang ating mga rosary beads pero mag-ingat lang talaga sa pagtanggap sa ipinamimigay na mga rosary. Mas makabubuting alamin muna natin ang source nito," Cabunoc said.
Use of satanic rosaries would reportedly make one vulnerable to demon possession. —NB, GMA News
