Probers extract DNA samples from Atio’s parents
The Manila Police District (MPD) on Friday extracted DNA samples from the parents of hazing victim Horacio "Atio" Castillo III as part of its ongoing investigation.
A report in QRT said the DNA samples will be compared to the DNA of body fluids found at the Aegis Juris fraternity library, where the fatal hazing supposedly took place.
The Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory is also conducting chemical forensic analysis on the evidence found inside the library, such as paddles and fingerprints.
"All evidence recovered in the frat house were turned over to the crime lab for, number one, blood and chemical analysis, number two, fingerprinting, and number three, for fiber examination and comparison," said MPD chief Police Chief Superintendent Joel Coronel.
The report said the MPD already has leads on the whereabouts of the other suspects, but has to wait for the warrant of arrest.
One of the suspects, John Paul Solano, surrendered to authorities last week but was released Thursday with a promise to cooperate in the investigation. —Jessica Bartolome/KBK, GMA News
