Three friends' dream of improving their looks became a nightmare after they were injected with petroleum jelly by a woman who promised to make them beautiful for only P500.

A report on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho said the three—Alvina, Maui and Nina—had to undergo several surgical procedures to fix their faces, which became swollen as a result of the injection.

According to a doctor, the three have to be operated to remove the decaying petroleum jelly that was injected on their cheeks.

After going under several surgeries, Maui said her face felt lighter.

"Pagkakuha ng petroleum jelly, medyo gumaan 'yung pakiramdam, mabigat nung di pa nakuha," Maui said.

Alvina, Maui and Nina have also filed a lawsuit against a certain Janet, the person who made the injection.

Two others, Sunshine and Paco, were also victimized by injectable fillers that used mineral oil instead of petroleum jelly.

The report said Sunshine and Paco were told that mineral oil is lighter on the face and is a better alternative to petroleum jelly. However, as it turned out, the effects were the same.

Facial aesthetic surgeon Dr. John Michael Porquez said the effects of mineral oil is no different from petroleum jelly.

"Kasi ang mineral oil habang tumatagal, bumubuo tumitigas at may gravity, pumupunta sila sa lugar kung saan mababa at kung saan kaya mag-afford na bumagsak 'yung lugar," he said. —Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/KBK, GMA News
