Tropical storm "Ineng" (international code name: Krosa) continued to gain strength as it remained stationary east of Northern Luzon early Wednesday. In its 5 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pag-asa) said the storm was 800 kms east of Northern Luzon as of 2 a.m. Wednesday. Pag-asa said "Ineng" packed maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph and is forecast to move northwest at 7 kph. The storm is expected to continue enhancing the southwest monsoon affecting Luzon and Western Visayas, Pag-asa said. Luzon and Western Visayas will experience monsoon rains becoming widespread rains over the western section of Luzon, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest will prevail over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas and coming from the northeast and northwest over Extreme Northern Luzon with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the Southwest and the coastal waters along these areas will be slight to moderate. - GMANews.TV
