Not good to put PHL in bad light abroad? Tell that to Duterte, Trillanes tells Sara
It's wrong to paint a "sad and hopeless" picture of the Philippines especially abroad and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte should tell her father so, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said on Friday night.
According to a report on GMA News TV's "State of the Nation", Trillanes adverted to President Rodrigo Duterte's cuss words directed at the United States, United Nations and European Union.
Sara said in a speech on Monday morning that it was wrong to depict the Philippines in a bad light especially in the international community.
She didn't mention Trillanes but it was apparently directed at the senator, who went to the US last week to meet US officials.
Trillanes admitted discussing the corruption and human rights situation in the country.
"Talagang mali yun," Trillanes said when sought for comment as regards Sara's remarks that seemed to be against his trip and meetings with officials, including US Senator Marco Rubio.
"Hindi ba pinamumura mismo ni Duterte and US, UN at EU? Kaya sabihan niya ang tatay niya," he added.
Duterte repeatedly threw expletives at the US, UN and EU for their criticisms of his war on drugs that has been blamed for thousands of extrajudicial killings since he took office in 2016. —NB, GMA News
