Duterte pokes fun at De Lima's rosary from Pope: ‘Hanapan mo ako nung video, pakita ko kay Pope’
President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday poked fun at Senator Leila de Lima receiving a rosary from Pope Francis.
During an anti-corruption summit held in Pasay City, Duterte spoke about a person bragging about getting a rosary from the Pope.
De Lima’s office on Sunday sent out a news release saying she had received a “beautiful rosary” from Pope Francis. According to the staff of the detained senator, De Lima wrote the Pope last August requesting for for prayers for herself and the Filipino people.
“Hanapan mo ako nung video, pakita ko kay Pope. Magtingin pa si Pope, baka maalis pa sa Pope niyan,” Duterte said, in an apparent reference to a supposed sex tape involving De Lima. The senator, who has been detained over drug-related charges since February, has denied that the alleged sex tape exists.
Duterte was quick to add that he was only “joking.”
“I am joking… It is open to – if you criticize me, I can criticize you 10 times over,” he said. —JST, GMA News
