Vinta leaves 30 people dead in northern Mindanao

Northern Mindanao regional police spokesperson Superintendent Lemuel Gonda said that 19 of the fatalities were from Lanao del Norte, which was heavily hit by the storm.
Three were reported dead in Bukidnon and one in Iligan, according to Gonda
However, he could not immediately confirm the causes of deaths of the victims.
Gonda said some road sections and bridges in Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte are not passable, adding that a total of 12,265 people were displaced.
Office of Civil Defense-Northern Mindanao director Liza Mazo said initial information indicated that three people died in a landslide in Tubod town in Lanao del Norte.
It was not immediately clear if the three were among the 19 who were reported dead by the Lanao del Norte police.
"We got information that three died and some were injured, they are in the hospital," Mazo said, also indicating that there are reports of missing people.
"Lanao del Norte was heavily affected by Vinta," she said.
In Lanao del Sur, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao assemblyman Zia Alonto Adiong said seven people died and four others were reported missing in the province due to Vinta. —John Ted Cordero/LBG, GMA News
