Documents from PSA to cost more starting Feb. 2
Starting Friday, February 2, 2018, securing copies of documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will cost more, GMA News' Mark Zambrano reported on 24 Oras on Thursday.
The increase in issuance fees is in connection with the implementation of the recently passed Republic Act 10963 or the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law.
Following the adjustment, the fee for birth, marriage, death and authentication certificates will be P155 per copy, up from P140.
The free for Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) will likewise be increased from P195 to P210.
"Kaya po siya nagtaas [ay] dahil po sa TRAIN Law na sinasabi, so meron siyang documentary stamp," said Aurora Reolalas, chief of PSA's Vital Statistics Division.
The report said under the TRAIN Law, the price of documentary stamp tax — or the tax on documents, instruments, loan agreements and papers evidencing the acceptance, assignment, sale or transfer of an obligation, right or property incident — is doubled.
"Ang dati po kasing kinukuha na documentary stamp doon sa P140 is P15. Ngayon pa, additional P15 po," Reolalas said.
The increase was in accordance with Bureau of Internal Revenue's Revenue Regulation Number 4-2018 or the Rules and Regulations in Implementing the Documentary Stamp Tax under the TRAIN Law.
The PSA said it has already informed the public of the increase in issuance fees through the media and bulletin boards a week before its implementation. —KBK, GMA News
