INC welcomes Manalo's appointment, vows to help OFWs too

The Iglesia Ni Cristo on Thursday welcomed President Rodrigo Duterte's decision to appoint its executive minister Eduardo Manalo as his Special Envoy for Overseas Filipino Concerns.

"Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa Mahal na Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte sa kanilang pagtitiwala sa Kapatid na Eduardo V. Manalo," the influential religious group said in a statement.

The INC said it would join its leader in helping OFWs around the world in their plight.

"Ang buong kapatiran ng Iglesia Ni Cristo ay kaisa ng Ka Eduardo na tutulong sa mga kababayan natin nasaan man po para sa kanilang kapakanan," the group said.

"Sa abot ng ating makakaya ay lilingap tayo sa mga kababayan natin nasaan man sila," it added.

Manalo's appointment papers were signed on February 13.

Manalo is the eldest son of the late Eraño Manalo.

Iglesia Ni Cristo supported Duterte in the 2016 presidential election. — MDM, GMA News
